Uncontrollable itching during last trimester

I am in my 6th pregnancy. For each pregnancy, I get this uncontrollable itching during the last 6-8 weeks before birth. It begins on the palms of my hands and the bottoms of my feet, and then progresses all over my body. Sometimes it is worse on one part of the body, then changes to another part. It is worse in the evenings and for a warm shower. It disappears 1 day after giving birth. It is a stinging, tingling itch with no outward sign, rash, bump, or discoloration. The cause is unknown, but my doctor suggests it may be my liver secreting something in bile. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
