kidney stone

What are the symptoms of kidney stones? Sunday night I came home and started to take a shower. The pain on my right side was so intense I could not stand it. It moved to the upper part of my stomach and to the groin area. It lasted about an hour, I didnt know what I was going to do. The pain was excuritaing. I drank water as much as I could. I finally went to sleep for about an hour and the pain was gone. I felt a little uncomfortable, I dont know if that was because of the intense pain or what. I got up for about 3 to 4 hours and everything was fine. Slept that night and the next day 2 to 3 times a day I started to get pain on my right side and stomach. Just very uncomfortable, nothing like the night before. I have been having those for the 4 days off and on. I was wondering if they could be kidney stones. I have been drinking extra water in case that it is stones. What could I take to dissolve this if it kidney stones and if it isnt, the medicine wouldnt hurt me anyway would it? If you need anymore information let me know. Thanks for any help I can get.

My kidney stones were extremely painful yo pass out of my system. I eventually had to have them surgically removed, and I hope I never have to experience this again. My Doctor placed me on a diet to help me prevent kidney stones from forming in the future.
